Gamer Deliberate (The Ultimate Game Music Compilation)

Over the years, I've been going back and collecting tunes from various games I've played since I was a kid. Music in games has always been an important thing to me. I feel it can make or break a game. Games that aren't too good, like the old DOS game "Jill of the Jungle" pretty much sucked, can have great music and still be fun to play. On the other side, I can remember times where I was playing a game and got to a spot with super annoying music and immediately lost interest in playing (FF3 super annoying tower for example). Thats not to say that music is the only important part of making a great game, just an important part.

Anyway, I've spent some time picking out some of the best-of-all-time game musics and gathering them together. I've filtered them down and put together a CD's worth of them. The songs will of course be biased to the type of music I like, and to the games I've played, but since I've played a lot of games, I was able to thin out much of the weaker stuff (anyone who says Mario Kart has a great soundtrack is clearly blinded by nostalgia). I've also taken songs into consideration recommended by friends and family.

Credit goes to all the great musicians that composed these tunes. And props to the companies out there that still put value in a good original soundtrack.

Generally we can only find this sort of cool music floating around on occasional keygens, nothing quite beats the midi sounds from the old days of gaming. In a way, being limited in the sound creation methods of those days meant the creativity was somehow heightened.
